Bajor finally agrees to a Romulan presence aboard DS9, and allows them to build a hospital on one of their moons; but there may be more than medical facilities there. After 3 months of no progres, Sisko finally receives a vision from the prophets, who are locked in a battle with the pah-wraiths in the closed celestial temple.. Following Weyoun's threat to start leveling Cardassian cities, Kira, Garak, and Damar agree to attack Dominion headquarters; they are however captured and sentenced to execution. Their sentence fails to be carried out when supposedly Dominion-allied Cardassians switch sides and revolt; and not just on Cardassia, but at the front line where Sisko and the Klingon-Federation fleet are battling Dominion and Breen forces. Entering the fire caves, Winn betrays Dukat, by poisoning him and presenting his body as a sacrifice to the Pah-Wraiths. As Dukat's life is restored, Sisko senses something is wrong and orders the Defiant back to DS9. After Odo links with the Female Shapeshifter, curing her in the process, a cease-fire is ordered and Odo is compelled to stay with his people. Back on Bajor, Sisko confronts Dukat and plunges him down into a firey abyss sealing off the Pah-Wraiths; however, after, he is called to join the prophets in the Celestial Temple.
